A Consistent Town, A Consistent Risk
Roseland's 1916 incorporation created one of St. Joseph County's smallest and narrowest towns -- about four blocks wide and a mile long -- positioned between South Bend and the University of Notre Dame campus (founded in 1842 by Father Edward Sorin) with Dixie Highway running north-south through the middle.
One Building Era, One Set of Weak Points
Roseland's housing, built up steadily along its narrow four-block-wide footprint since the 1916 incorporation, shares a fairly consistent construction era -- which also means humidity and moisture-control weaknesses common to that period tend to show up similarly across the town's older homes rather than varying widely block to block.
