Two Townships, No Single Building Code Era
Granger took its name from a farmers' organization, not a founder. The Grangers gave their name to the train depot that started the community in 1883; more than a century later, Granger spans Clay and Harris townships, has never incorporated, and counted 30,337 residents in the 2020 census.
Moisture Risk Tracks With Build Era
With growth spread across Clay and Harris townships since 1883 rather than concentrated around one older core, Granger's housing stock ranges from early-1900s farmhouses to recent construction -- each era bringing a different baseline for how well a home manages the humidity and moisture that drive mold problems.
